Clearance requirements
We were contacted by the owners of a carpeted two-bedroom flat in the Lincoln area and were asked to complete the clearance prior to previous tenants moving out. All the furniture was still in place, and the house had not been cleaned in months. Now the landlord instructed us to clear the place so that it could be rented again, cleaning only the furniture and leaving it there so that the next renter could use it. All other contents to be removed. We were told that we would have to use vacuum cleaners on the carpets. We were also instructed to clean the kitchen cabinets. The customer advised us to donate all the books to a nearby orphanage and the paintings and photographs to an old age home.
Clearance overview
We arrived at the property around 9am just as the owner unlocked the flat for us to enter. We were a team of 3 and evenly distributed the responsibilities amongst us. The customer was very confident for us to donate as much as we could to a local charity.
Disposal of contents
The only contents that needed to be disposed off from the flat was the clutter, general waste, curtains and blinds, 75% of the contents were donated, what could not be donated was recycled further at a pro recycling centre. All furniture was to be left intact, only cleaned.
